Health and Safety Task 2,
Health and Safety
Health and safety is an important part to consider when using various electrical equiptment. Many self imployed Photographers who work in their own studio should always follow a risk assesment when photographing clients. I have listed five steps to health and safety and described various situations.
1.Identify the hazards
When using any electrical equiptment eg photography lighting it is important to identify any hazards. Wires and any lighting equiptment must be positioned safely so clients cannot trip up.
2.Decide who might be harmed
All clients could come to harm whilst visiting a photography studio however if children are being photographed then extra care must be taken to provide a safe working environment. Eg any house pets must be locked away, all equiptment must be out of reach.
3.Evaluate the risks
Always ensure that any risks that may have happened have been evaluated and should not happen again.
4. Record and implement your findings
Always make a note of any risks that may have happened within the studio and what you have done to change it.
5.Review your assesment
It is important to review your health and safety notes regulary to ensure sufficient changes have been put into place when required.

Music Photography Research
Music Photography Research
These should be based on the wider aspects of the industry such as
- The use of album artwork for display or advertising
- The use of Images in music and record shops
- The use of Images in posters and flyposting
- The use of references to music in artwork on location, such as lyrics in the pavement of streets, plaques and sculptures
- The use of music Imagery and references in clothing or body art

Montage Assignment Planning and Reasearch
Montage Assignment
For the Montage Assignment I have chosen to create a collection of images based on photographs I took of Manchester City Centre. The theme of the Montage is based on "home" and show different parts of Manchester streets. When photographing I focused on different skills and techniques I have gained over the various weeks studying the diploma. When developing the composition for the montage I worked on how I could contrast different colours with the background and chose good strong photographs to put together.
The montage above works well however the text is not easily seen so I have enlarged the text.
The photographs that I chose to use for the assignment were carefully arranged to complement each other.
The final Image was taken from an internet sight of Manchester street Signs. The reason I chose to use this Image rather than writting' Manchester' is that its more of an unusual idea but still informs what location it is.
Research
One style of Montage that Inspired me was Road Signs taken from 'Stock Photots'

Fashion photography
Fashion Photography Irving penn
Irving Penn was born 16th June 1917 in Plainfield New Jersey. He began his career by studying art and Design in Philadelphia in 1934 to 1938.
He was one of the first photographers to pose his models in front of a white/grey backdrop and he used this simplicity more effectively than other photographers.
Style...
Irving Penn has a distinct style when photographing his models.
The work produced is bold, and often presented in black and white. He uses strong contrasts to portray Images that stand out.
Photographic Technique....
His Images show women who look powerful, and some of the photographs have been taken looking up at the subject to enhance a strong powerful style. Irvine Penn has an interesting photographic technique and he uses this in many of his images.
Urving Penn has a distinct style which is easily identifiable.
He frequently photographs his models wearing large hats and produces "statement Images"
I feel very influenced by his work and will be producing my own images of a model wearing a large hat.
Irving Penn was influenced by artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe this style of art can be seen in many of his Images.
Pose Ideas
This Image is an intersting pose, it shows srong shapes by usng the large hat to cover the models face.
The model has been positioned intersteing. However I would like to photograph in black and white.
Test shot taken using the a hat I will use to photograph my model in.
