Studio Photography Assignment Task 2

                                                   Studio Photography

I have selected five images that work well and demonstrate good examples of studio lighting.

The first Image was taken by using  softbox lighting with a white background. The lighting was High key which gives the models skin colour a pale effect.

The lighting was set up by using two soft boxes placed infront of the model (250 watt each light), with additional lighting at each side of the model (500 watt each light)
The model is lit well and a small shadow behind works well with the image.

The Image has been altered to black and white which works better visually and adds character to the photograph.

The second Image is a still life photograph taken of a Rose. The lighting used was two backlights one Barndoors lighting and a Honeycomb, I also used a reflector at the front of the subject. The Rose has been lit more brightly from the left hand side which has created more form around the flower and shadows have formed around the petals. A second shadow has been created under the flower which allows it to stand out more against the white backdrop.

The third Image was taken of a pair of childs Boots. The Boots have been photographed on a white background with a piece of bark placed behind them. The lighting I have used in this Image is similar to the photograph of the Rose. Two backlights were placed behind the subject, Barndoors and Honeycomb.By using Barndoors in this photograph light could be directed towards the subject. A Honeycomb grid was used to create more directional light which gives more control and greater isolation.

The forth Image was taken of a piece of silver jewellery. The necklace was placed over a collection of leaves that had been found outside college. By placing the necklace over the dark leaves has enhanced the silver. The lighting used for this photograph was a Beauty Dish and Barndoors lighting. A macro lens was used to capture the detail and the lighting was positioned to shine directly on the necklace to capture the sparkles of the diamonds.

The final Image has been taken of a glass bottle. The lighting that has been used for this Image was Barndoors and a Beauty Dish. The lighting was placed infront of the bottle from a diaganol angle. I used a Coloured gel to contrast against the green bottle.
